I’ve been in the field of transportation for the past 21 years. First, as a bus driver for 15-years, then becoming the Transportation Supervisor for the past 6-years, all with Kentwood Public Schools. I would have to say that when I started as a bus driver I did not see my path in life as being in the transportation field. I would say the journey for me has been one that I have come to embrace and could not see my journey any other way. The challenges that we work with everyday are just hills and curves in the road. We come in everyday to drive that road to see where it will lead us. I’ve been a member of MAPT and MSBO for the past five-years. I currently serve on the conference committee and get great pleasure knowing that MAPT provides member with the ability to learn from one another. I received my “Certification for Transportation Director” through MAPT/MSBO. I also serve as a School Board Member for Kelloggsville Public School. I’ve always had a desire to help others and in the end hope I can make a difference.
The most important thing that I remind my bus drivers is that they are the key to our education systems. Our bus drivers are the first to greet our students in the morning and last to interact with them in the evenings. They are the ones that can “Capture Kids Heart.” For our parents, it’s a peace of mind to know that their child is safe.
My husband and I, David, have three amazing children, a wonderful son-in-law and two grand-dogs. We are expecting our first grandchild in September. During the summer we enjoy camping with the family in Ludington, spending time at the lake up north or just relaxing at home by the pool.
