2020-Present.
Essexville Hampton Public Schools, Essexville, Michigan
Currently overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Essexville Hampton Facilities and Maintenance Department along with the Transportation Department. Supervising of employees daily and to help provide a safe, clean learning and working environment for students and staff along with a safe efficient transportation department. Responsible for professional development conferences for both staff members. Also working closely with Central office Administrators and building principals to meet the daily demands and goals for each building and the district.

Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds & Student Transportation
2014-2020
Bay-Arenac ISD, Bay City, Michigan

Served as the Supervisor of Buildings, Grounds, and Operations and also the Supervisor of Pupil Transportation, the supervisor in charge of safety and security, and a key administrative team member from 2014 until the present. Responsible for the day-to-day operations of both departments as well as working with 7 local school districts, 3 contractors, and other transportation personnel making sure that special needs students and regular education students are getting to and from school and school-related events efficiently and safely. Duties also included professional development for local drivers including contractors. Also responsible for the calling off school during inclement weather such as cold and snow days, power failures, etc. Also working with district administrators, principals, supervisors to discuss the possible discipline of students who ride the bus. I also made sure that all vehicles had proper equipment such as a safety vest, wheelchair tie-downs for securement, etc. All transportation issues and concerns were brought to my attention. I also worked with parents over any concerns or questions that they may have, making sure that all policies and procedures were followed properly.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

  • Started the Bay-Arenac ISD wide bus driver Professional Development Conference.  Drivers from all locals within the ISD would meet for 4 hours annually for training at the BAISD, Topics covered were student management, wheelchair securement, communicating with parents, etc. Continental breakfast would start the day and the day would end with drawings for the drivers, giving away gift cards donated by the local Superintendents.  
  • Collaborated with local districts on transporting Center Based Students to the building program where they are located. Also worked with contractors on some topics. Also had the transporters attend quarterly meetings to see if transporters had any concerns, share ideas, and talk about if they could help each other get students to and from school efficiently, working together, 7 local districts, 3 contractors. Chaired these meetings and also would meet with them separately to handle any concerns that may arise.
  • Was involved with all aspects of the Transportation Departments from staff evaluation to Michigan State Police inspection. Worked with the Maintenance Departments to maintain all vehicles in the district including riding lawn mowers, plow trucks, food service trucks, etc. including working on other districts’ school buses to help them save cost and to work collaboratively together as an ISD team.

Bay City Public Schools, Bay City, Michigan

Responsibilities included day-to-day operations of the transportation department, as well as the safe and efficient operation of a 254 square mile school district transportation system with a fleet of 66 busses and 55 daily routes. During my time as director, the Bay City Schools had approximately 6,000 students who rode the bus daily with a total student population of 9,000.
Supervision responsibilities included a staff of 70 Drivers, 3 Dispatchers, 5 Mechanics, and 1 Executive Assistant with a department budget of approximately $4 million dollars. The department was also responsible for athletic trips, extracurricular trips and trips requested by non-school district personnel. The district is comprised of two high schools, 2 middle schools, and 8 elementary buildings, and other support buildings such as maintenance and technology. We also transported special needs students to our district programs as well as the Bay-Arenac Intermediate School District center-based programs in Bay and Arenac Counties.

Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Pinconning Area Schools Transportation and Property Services Departments. Supervising all employees of both departments on a daily basis.

  • Winner of the 2019 MAPT President’s Award for Distinguished Service.
  • Currently the MAPT Regional Representative for Arenac, Bay, Midland, Saginaw, and Tuscola Counties. Responsible for quarterly meetings with Transportation Supervisors in previously mentioned counties updating them on important information regarding school bus transportation, current trends, laws, changes, etc. along with updates regarding the MAPT organization such as classes, meetings, conferences, etc.
  • Bay City Fireworks Festival Telethon. 21 years as one of 2 auctioneers on a two-day telethon that is broadcast live on TV for 30 hours. Raising over $200,000 dollars for the Bay City Fireworks Festival, a 3-day festival on the riverfront in Bay City
  • Board of Directors Bay County Sports Hall of Fame for 1 year and the Hall of Fame Banquet Master of Ceremonies for 11 years.
